The Amal Family Project

This therapeutic theatre work using marionette puppets (stick puppets) serves as an initial emergency response to alleviate the trauma caused by war among children in camps and shelters for displaced persons in southern Gaza Strip, as a first phase. The war's effects are directly reflected in children’s behavior, leading to various disorders, with the most significant being "violence, isolation, anxiety, and fear." This necessitates providing primary psychological support to reduce the severity of these disorders among children through a puppet theatre performance that mirrors their experiences and teaches them how to overcome them using simplified psychological tools, methods, and techniques.

The theatrical performance will be part of an integrated program that includes activation and preparation, the theatrical performance itself, and then a dialogue discussion, which serves as feedback on what the children have learned about mechanisms for emotional release to mitigate the effects and pressures resulting from the war.
